In this tutorial we will cover the steps needed to set up Google's SMTP server with your Kyup account.

Introduction

Google offer an SMTP server that allows you to use their services to manage and maintain your outgoing mail. To do this, you need to implement Google's SMTP server settings into scripts or programs you wish to send mails from.

Requirements

a) Free Gmail account

or

b) Paid Google Apps account

Google SMTP server configuration

Note: Google's SMTP requires authentication, so please use the following settings to set up your script/program:

1) SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com

2) SMTP username: user@gmail.com (if you use a free Gmail account) or user@domain.com (if you use a paid Google Apps account)

3) SMTP password: ****** (use the password corresponding to your mail account)

4) SMTP port: 465

5) SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes

Optional:

If you want to store the outgoing emails in the Sent Folder of your Gmail or Google Apps account, you need to log in to this account using Google's interface. To do this, go to Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP. IMAP must be enabled in order for emails to be properly copied to your Sent folder:
